REMSAFE is the remote isolation system designed and developed in Western Australia, initially for conveyors.

It is an automated system that, on command, allows a plant operator to isolate fixed equipment from its energy sources, verify the isolation and lockout to undertake tasks that require isolation for safety purposes. REMSAFE does away with the need for an isolation officer to attend switchrooms and substations to manually isolate equipment.

It optimises production by reducing the downtime caused by waiting for an electrical isolation to less than three minutes. It is a machine safety system designed to meet safety integrity level 3 (SIL3), the highest safety rating for safety-related systems for machinery.

REMSAFE is a patented, fail safe, stand alone full current remote isolation system driven by a safety-rated programmable logic controller. It includes continuous self diagnostics for its operating system, communications links and incorporated hardware.

Initial applications have been primarily for conveyors and car dumpers in Western Australia's booming mining industry.
